The Seaman Middle School Robotics Club was started in 2016 with the intent of promoting technical skills in the STEM fields. We began with four of the VEX IQ robotics kits, and we have been trying to expand to acquire more complex equipment and tools, as well as to increase the number of participants involved each year. Starting in the 2018-2019 school year, we obtained two VEX EDR kits, which has allowed us to start attending official robotics competitions throughout the state. Hopefully in the upcoming seasons we will develop the club to the point where we can start qualifying for the yearly state competition, as well as the VEX World Competition.

Robotics Tourney
Seaman Middle School hosted its first ever robotics tournament this Saturday, November 16. 20 teams competed in this year’s competition called “Tower Takeover.” A preview of the competition can be found here. This is the second year that Seaman Middle School will be attending robotics competitions. In our first year one middle school team qualified for state, so we are excited to see what this year’s season holds for our young Vikings!

Special thanks to the Seaman High School robotics club for providing workers and helping to host the tournament, and to Northrop Grumman for several generous donations to the middle and high school clubs.
